It was a show of shame and sorrow on Tuesday at the ongoing Trade Fair in Lagos State as a group of persons who paraded themselves as members of a Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, were seen at the Trade Fair complex in Orile-Badagry Expressway, Ojo, with a sick child begging for alms.

Mikel Obi to donate his own share of $200,000 gift from Japanese surgeon


After Japanese multi millionaire surgeon Katsuya Takasu kept to his promise by donating $390,000 to Nigeria's team that won Bronze at Rio 2016, reports now have it that Mikel Obi has agreed to donate part of his own share to his U-23 teammates at the just concluded Rio 2016.

Some earlier reports had revealed that the NFF wanted to take some share of the gift from the surgeon, but the NFF over the weekend dismissed such reports in a series of tweets saying they only wanted to ensure due process.

Rochas Okorocha reduces civil servants work days to 3 times a week, says Thursday and Fridays are for farming



In a bid to increase the state's internally generated revenue and diversify its economy, the Imo state government has introduced a policy where state civil servants are to work for only three days in the week, Monday to Wednesday while Thursday and Friday, they are to go their farms to cultivate what they would eat. A statement by the state governor, Rochas Okorocha's Chief Press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, said the new policy will not affect the salaries of workers. Minister of Transportation, Chibuike  Rotimi Amaechi, has denied allegations that he embezzled money meant for the development of Rivers state when he was governor. Amaechi said this while speaking at a stakeholders’ forum on corruption organised by the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja today July 28th.

CBN takes over the bank


The Central Bank of Nigeria today sacked the management team of Skye Bank over capital adequacy issues. The bank's top executives on getting wind of their impending sack, resigned en-mass this morning. The bank's Chairman, Tunde Ayeni and its Managing Director, led other executive and non-executive board members to tender their resignation before the apex bank announced the dissolution of the bank's management team this afternoon. 

CBN will manage the affairs of the bank for some time. The bank, according to financial experts, has been distressed for a while.

The Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Monday, delivering judgment on a suit brought before it by the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP, Justice Mohammed Liman, declared the May 21 national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legal and that its decisions did not violate any known law or the constitution of the party.
He dismissed all grounds of defence put up by former National Chairman of the party, Senator Modu Sheriff.

For having sex with his colleague's wife, a Nigerian military doctor, identified as Lieutenant Musa Mustapha Bature has been sacked by the Nigerian Army court-martial.


Known for his notorious sex life, 38 year old Lieutenant Bature from Kebbi state, reportedly took advantage of one of his colleague's wife who came to him for consultation.

Labour unions in Ondo State on Thursday agreed to suspend their one month strike after reaching an agreement with the state government.
The decision to put the strike on hold was taking on the fourth-day of the extensive deliberations between the unions and the government, held at the Government Cocoa Conference Hall in Akure, the state capital.

The presidency has apologized to the Senate over the comments made by the Special Assistant to President Buhari on Prosecution, Okoi Obono-Obla, at the senate public hearing on the alleged forgery of senate order which held at the National Assembly yesterday June 30th.

Obono-Obla had told members of the senate committee on Legal Matters, Judiciary & Human Rights that the senate lacked constitutional powers to summon the Attorney General of the Federation and Chief Justice of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, over the alleged forgery of senate orders.

For the first time in history, Rwanda is set to participate in Miss World Beauty Pageant. The country will be represented at the international beauty pageant by Miss Rwanda, Jolly Mutesi.

The 19-year-old beauty queen was crowned Miss Rwanda 2016 on February 27. She will participate in the 66th edition of Miss World scheduled for December 2016, in the United States.

seven-year-old girl, Faith Ojo, has been confirmed healed of the deadly virus HiV/AIDS by a medical report from the City Medical Diagnostic Cen­tre, Ido-Ekiti, Ekiti State. 
Her mother, Bosede,in a chat with Sun Newspaper, claimed Faith became whole after taking anointing oil from the Jesu Omo Dafidi Outreach Ministries of Evangelist Emmanuel Joseph:
“I could handle being positive with HIV/AIDs because I am an adult, but that my daughter of barely seven also has it was what shattered me. I began to pray to God for a divine interven­tion.
