I don’t know what I've done to offend Sports Minister Dalung - Samson Siasia


Under 23 Olympics Bronze winning coach Samson Siasia has revealed that he's bewildered by the 'standoff' between him and Sports Minister Barr. Solomon Dalung.

Siasia's social media standoff with the minister started after the coach complained of the poor treatment and financial incentives he and his players received prior to the Olympics in Rio, Brazil, which then prompted the minister to say he wasn't aware of where the team was pre-Rio and even said he will discipline the U-23 national football team coach, Samson Siasia and every other team official who took to the media to vent his or her frustration, saying they were unethical.

Mikel Obi to donate his own share of $200,000 gift from Japanese surgeon


After Japanese multi millionaire surgeon Katsuya Takasu kept to his promise by donating $390,000 to Nigeria's team that won Bronze at Rio 2016, reports now have it that Mikel Obi has agreed to donate part of his own share to his U-23 teammates at the just concluded Rio 2016.

Some earlier reports had revealed that the NFF wanted to take some share of the gift from the surgeon, but the NFF over the weekend dismissed such reports in a series of tweets saying they only wanted to ensure due process.

Man U signs Bundesliga Player of the Season Henrikh Mkhitaryan for £26m (photos)


Armenia's all time goalscorer Henrikh Mkhitaryan has now officially joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal.
The 27 year old made 140 appearances and scored 41 goals for Borussia Dortmund after joining them in 2013 and last season scored 23 goals and registered an impressive 32 assists across all competitions.Henrikh was voted Bundesliga Player of the Season for 2015/16 in a poll of his fellow professionals, and he was named in the Team of the Season following votes by the players’ union in Germany. The midfielder is Armenia’s all-time top scorer, with 19 goals in 59 appearances since his international debut in January 2007. Henrikh captains his national team and has received the Armenian Footballer of the Year award on five occasions.

UEFA Officials have warned players ahead of Wednesday and Thursday's semi-finals not to share their immediate post-match celebrations with their children due to health and safety concerns.

Wales Heroes have been told "the European Championship is not a family party" in the build-up to their clash with Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal on Wednesday night.

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs left his role as assistant Man U coach on Saturday after spending 29 years at the club- first as a player since the age of 14, then the last three years as an assistant coach under David Moyes and then Louis Van Gaal.

The Welshman, 42, has played more times for the club than anyone else in history and is the club's most decorated player, having won every major honour in club football. Manchester United Confirms Ryan Giggs Exit After 29 Years With Club


Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has bowed out of Old Trafford after 29 years.
In a departure statement, Giggs backed Mourinho to succeed at United and he also thanked Sir Alex Ferguson and Louis van Gaal for their influence on his career but failed to mention David Moyes.
The 42-year-old also confirmed that the next stage of his career was to become a manager. 
Announcing his decision to leave, Giggs said: 'After 29 seasons at Manchester United as a player and assistant manager, I know winning is in the DNA of this Club - giving youth a chance, and playing attacking and exciting football.

The Nigeria U20 male national team aka Flying Eagles arrived Burundi on Thursday ahead of the Caf U20 Nations Cup qualifying clash with the hosts on Saturday. The 31-man Nigerian delegation made up of 18 players and 11 officials landed this afternoon at the Bujumbura International Airport, Burundi.

Leicester City wins 2015/216 Premier League


Leicester City are the new Premier League Champions after Tottenham played a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Most Chelsea fans throw open support for Leicester as the former Premier League Champions can't withstand the heat of seeing their London rival lift the title.

With two more matches left Leicester have a seven point lead which mathematically puts every other team out of the title race.

Saul Niguez's sublime solo goal has put Atletico Madrid in control of their Champions League semi-final against German giants Bayern Munich. Niguez jinked past a clutch of Bayern defenders before curling into the corner, giving the home side a narrow first-leg lead to take to Germany.

The teams will meet at Bayern's Allianz Arena next week tuesday to decide who will meet Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final on 28 May.

Manchester United and England skipper Wayne Rooney has been named as Britain's richest young sportsman in the Sunday Times Rich List for 2016. The 30-year-old has seen his wealth grow by £10m over the past 12 months, largely thanks to a new deal at Old Trafford that takes his earnings up to £300,000 a week on top of endorsements.

Rooney is now the highest-paid player in the Premier League, while separate deals with the likes of Nike and Samsung have seen his personal wealth increase to take top spot in the annual list.

Messi is worth €141m, while Cristiano Ronaldo is €101m - University report


According to a new report by a Spanish University, the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Lionel Messi has a higher net value than Cristiano Ronaldo. With the Argentine valued at €141m millon while Cristiano Ronaldo is valued at  €101million.

The final figures according to the University report were determined by an Analytic Hierarchy Process multicriteria method which acknowledges variables such as number of goals, assists per game, bookings, leadership and marketing generated by the Argentine and Portuguese players.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas says that former coach Jose Mourinho was sacked last year by the Chelsea board because he trusted his players too much.

Mourinho lost his job in December last year after overseeing a poor stretch of form and poor results despite being the club's most successful manager in it's 110 year history winning three league titles, FA Cup, Community Shield and three League Cups.

Popular Portuguese tabloid Correio da Manha have claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo's goal celebration against Celta Vigo is a sure sign that the Real Madrid star is expecting a second child from a surrogate mother. The Portuguese captain stuffed the ball inside his jersey following one of his four goals in Real Madrid's 7-1 win at the Santiago Benabeu during the weekend.

He announced his upcoming testimonial march billed for the Portharcourt stadium on the 27th of May, 2016 which will attract former Everton and Manchester United manager, David Moyes; Manchester United Forward, Wayne Rooney; Manchester City midfielder, yaya Toure and three times African Footballer of the year, Didier Drogba among other top footballers.

Arsenal signs Nigerian youth player Kelechi Nwakali for £2million


Kelechi Nwakakli has been in London for over a month trying to sort out a deal with Arsene Wenger's team. He has now put pen to paper after passing a club organized trial, with his academy Diamond Football Academy, set to receive over £2m as training and development fee.

His representative has confirmed the transfer of the 17 year old Under 17 World Cup star is a done deal and that the London club has agreed a 5-year contract with the Nigerian boy who was nominated for the 2015 CAF Youth player of the year.
